About Sara Turbyfill
Denver Photographer

A Little About Me
Hi there! My name is Sara Turbyfill and I’m a Denver photographer specializing in commercial and portrait photography. I’m recognized as a Certified Professional Photographer, meaning I demonstrated competence in photography through written examination and image submission. Before starting Sara Turbyfill Photography, I held various marketing-related roles, which is handy when working on commercial projects. Here are a few fun facts about me: I’ve been to 17 countries outside the United States, I studied abroad in Argentina for 6 months in college, I’m a mom to a Holland Lop bunny, and my true passion is wildlife photography.
Although I started my business several years ago, my photography journey began much earlier than that. The first time I remember picking up a camera was when I was about 8 years old. While digging through the closet one day, I came across an odd-shaped green device. It immediately caught my attention, so I picked it up. Seconds later, I realized I was holding my mom's Polaroid Instant Camera. I remember thinking how I couldn’t wait to get a camera of my own one day.
Over the years, I borrowed my mom's camera to photograph everything I found interesting - mostly plants and animals in our backyard. I loved the excitement of waiting for the image to develop, not knowing if I’d taken a good picture or not. When I got my own digital camera in high school, I took it with me everywhere I went. Whether I was attending a birthday party or taking a trip to the beach, I was always looking for photo opportunities. I eventually covered my entire bedroom wall with dozens of my photographs. Fast forward two decades, and I still love doing the same thing!
In 2015, I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. I majored in international business and entrepreneurship because I loved to travel and knew I wanted to start my own business one day. After graduating from college, I held several marketing positions where I got to use my creative side to work on various graphic design and photography projects. This is when the spark ignited. While working in these artistic roles, I knew I wanted to start my own business in the creative field.
I started freelancing as a Denver photographer in 2020 and officially launched Sara Turbyfill Photography two years later. I love the art of photography and the ability to use it to bring a client's ideas to life. Whether working on a commercial or portrait photography project, I'm constantly inspired by my surroundings. I'm grateful that I get to create something new every day. When I'm not behind the camera, I enjoy birdwatching, wildlife photography, and traveling around the great state of Colorado. I also have a graphic design business called Sara Turbyfill Design.
